Logo/Branding:
The Strainrite Companies
In 2016, The Strainrite Companies received a refreshed logo design that modernized their visual identity while preserving the integrity of the original lettering. The new mark introduced a clean, iconic symbol to reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to quality liquid filtration.
Building on this updated brand foundation, I designed a series of industry-specific brochures to highlight Strainrite’s filtration solutions across multiple sectors, including oil and gas, drinking water, food and beverage, CBD and THC processing, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, inks and coatings, and microelectronics and semiconductor applications. Created using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop, each brochure was tailored to its target industry while maintaining cohesive visual standards and brand consistency throughout the entire suite of materials.
Label and packaging design
Geary Brewing
A longstanding New England brewery, Geary Brewing Company sought a refreshed and cohesive visual identity across its expanding product line. I designed a full suite of beer labels, including can and tap handle graphics, as well as packaging for bottles, six-packs, and twelve-packs, using Adobe Illustrator. Maintaining consistent branding while celebrating the distinct character of each brew—such as Geary’s Brown Ale, Irish Red Ale, and London Porter—was central to the project’s success.
In addition to the core product line, I developed a series of imaginative tap labels for the brewery’s pilot-run beers, giving each small-batch release a creative and playful edge while keeping the overall brand identity unified. I also created short-run private label designs for corporate events, integrating client logos and themes into Geary’s established brand style. This flexible design system allowed Geary Brewing Company to showcase both consistency and creativity across all packaging and promotional materials.
Award-winning layout design and illustration
Lewiston Sun Journal / Maine Trust for Local News
My work in publication design and illustration has been recognized multiple times by the Maine Press Association for excellence in both layout and visual storytelling. These awards highlight my ability to combine strong design principles with compelling imagery to create pages that not only attract attention but also communicate clearly and effectively. Whether developing full-page illustrations, editorial spreads, or detailed infographic layouts, I focus on balancing creativity with readability to enhance each story’s visual impact.
Art as education
Teaching and cartooning
Before focusing full-time on design, I spent three years teaching Social Studies at Oxford Hills Christian Academy. During that time, I developed engaging lesson plans that encouraged critical thinking, creativity, and historical understanding. The experience strengthened my communication and presentation skills—qualities that continue to inform my approach to design, collaboration, and storytelling. Those years in the classroom deepened my appreciation for visual communication. Teaching helped me develop a sense of narrative rhythm and quick, improvisational thinking that were indispensable in creating classroom activities - skills that later translated directly into the creative spontaneity behind Anvil Falls, my comic strip rooted in Maine’s culture, history and landscape.
Since its debut in 2022, Anvil Falls has grown into one of Maine’s most widely read local comics. It currently appears in the Lewiston Sun Journal and Central Maine Sunday, and beginning in 2026 will run seven days a week in the state’s four largest newspapers: the Portland Press Herald, the Lewiston Sun Journal, the Augusta Morning Sentinel, and the Kennebec Journal. It also appears monthly in the Harpswell Anchor. Altogether, the strip now reaches more than 40,000 readers in central and western Maine, with that number expected to nearly double in 2026.
Beyond newspapers, Anvil Falls has been embraced in other formats. The first anthology collection is available at all Bull Moose stores across Maine and New Hampshire and at Sherman’s Bookstores throughout southern Maine. The strip was also featured in a Portland Public Library gallery exhibit on sequential comic art.
